Do you ever just have one of those palm-to-forehead moments when you suddenly see a solution that you should have seen long ago?
Yep. Me too.
Like when it occurred to me to hang my Christmas Countdown Advent Garland on black foam-core board and dress it up like a chalkboard.
Duh!! Why did I not think of this YEARS ago?
Hanging the garland this way helps ground the all the whimsy of the tags and pom-pom trim, makes it so much easier to display the garland at my events, and saves my walls at home!
To add a little extra umph (a technical decorating term,) I used white chalk to write Advent at the top, creating a chalkboard effect. My lettering skills are far from lovely, but if I figure in order to get better, I am going to have to keep trying… So the uneven, wonky, homespun letters are here to stay.
I used wooden thumbtacks to pin each row to the board.
To hang the display, I just punched holes through the board with a pencil (again, aren’t you amazed with my technical abilities?) and ran some ribbon through each hole, tying it together at the top.
And then Voila! A nice, neat, easy way to display my (or any) loopy droopy Advent Garland.
Don’t you love it when you figure out something that just makes you feel all clever inside?
Me too,
Enjoy!

I love your advent artwork. I’m not an artist, but I like to craft. This looks like something I might try. (My printing would make yours look great!)
