…juggling songs of praise with cries for help. Her words and works inspire.
In the Fall of 2013 Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock invited Jerusalem to lead our retreat for young families. After reading A Homemade Year I knew she’d have a lot to offer our group. I was not disappointed. We met in advance to talk about what we were looking for and what she might be able to do. It was so easy to plan and work with Jerusalem. She led us in discussions about the meaning and significance of Advent and Christmas traditions. Together we got to make a “Christmas in Box” for each family, filled with an advent wreath and other projects to help the family observe the season. The content and leadership was great. One of the great gifts of our time with Jerusalem was how well she connected to the participants and how she helped the participants connect with each other. This was a group of 10 families with kids ranging from under 1 year old to 10 years old. Jerusalem was never phased by a crying or squirming toddler, in fact she’d often scoop one up and distract her to let the parents focus for a bit. We had a great time with Jerusalem and would highly recommend her.
