One of the byproducts of getting ready for the magazine shoot was that we finally paid a little attention to the laundry room.
This poor room has never been shown any love, as it has always been waiting to be turned into another bathroom.
Sometimes it is just best to live in the present and let the dream go.
If it comes to be anyway, then great. But sometimes you just have to move on & move in to reality.
So I spruced up the laundry room, using leftovers from a variety of other projects.
Such as this garland from a wedding I helped with in May.
Chalk board from the office, lamp from the old shoppe pile of “to do” projects.
Paint from the dining room, hardware I found stuffed in a drawer. Not even sure what I bought it for.
mirror from the bedroom, curtains from the fabric closet..
Sweet Man made a shelf out of left-over lumber
It is amazing how much more laundry we get done now that we actually like the room.
Both Sweet Man and I find that we are more likely to do a load or 2 every day or so, rather than letting it pile up.
Not that it still won’t from time to time.
.
But it does help to like the space and to place some value on it other than “that room where we dump stuff.”
Your new laundry room looks great. I so agree that it truly does make a differnce if teh space is inviting!!!!
Always, Always Pretty!!!
love the red cabinets. oh, and the lamp. i'd love to have a lamp in my laundry room.
What a sweet place to get the dirt out. I am so excited to see that I won your B-E-L-E-I-V-E garland kit! As I said in the email I sent you, it is perfect to hang on my “brand new” madeover fireplace. The new mantle was just begging for some garland and I just kept putting it off. Thanks again!

I love what you said…”sometimes it is just best to live in the present and let the dream go. If it comes to be anyway, then great. But sometimes you just have to move on & move in to reality.”
Reality often looks nothing like the dream; however, it doesn't mean that the dream was wrong just that dreams happen in different ways. Your laundry room remake is beautiful and although it doesn't match your dream…it has brought a new perspective on the room and your dream. Now that is living in reality and believing in dreams.
Your post inspired me to write a post on this subject on my blog.
wow, what a transformation! and I didn't comment on the porch post the other day, but LOVE. IT.
I think so you're so right about not waiting to spruce up a room because it's eventually intended for something else. I'm totally guilty of that, too.
This weekend I pledge to finish 2 projects. I'm not saying which ones, so I can make them easy projects if I deem necessary 😉

What a dreamy laundry room! So great!
I love all the sprucing and decorating you do. I especially love your seasonal mantles. Lucky, lucky family.
