I just wanted to share some of the great vintage Valentines I received this week from my wonderful blog pal Stacey from Flotsam and Jetsam.
She sent me a wonderful package full of the best vintage treasures after I won her giveaway, and I could not believe my luck!
Some of my favorite items was this collection of Valentines Day items.
I love the little clown Valentine with the inscription on the back. I always am so happy to find vintage cards that are written in and dated. It never ceases to amaze me in this instant/drive-thru/throwaway culture that we live in, when I come a across something that has survived the test of time this way. A small piece of colorful paper that has somehow stayed safe all these years (84 in the case of the clown) and survived in a land where so much is just carelessly tossed to the side, & thrown away.
The little clown is a sweet reminder on this “greeting card holiday” to remember to cherish the little things in life as much as the big ones, and to be careful what I discard carelessly, and to look for the beauty in the simple and sweet as well as the grand and important.
Happy Valentines Day!
Jerusalem->I’m so glad you liked the package. The clown is fabulous and the googly eyes make me laugh. Recently, I was blessed to find a miniature one in mint condition; I have it displayed in my cabinet for the season… Have a blessed Valentine’s Day!
I am in love with that clown. And, very happy to learn your lessons along with you. Happy heart day!
