So this is my bench. I love my bench. My father-in-law made it for me out of an old headboard. Being the thorough craftsman that he is, he tenderly and resolutely stripped it of all its old chippy green paint. Opps. Guess I forgot to mention that I liked the chippy old paint? I am sure I did. I also forget that everyone does not see what I see in chippy old paint. In his defense I did not tell him to leave as-is and I think he did say it was all moldy and dirty too, so in the end perhaps it was for the best…
But regardless, I now have a beautiful unpainted bench and after almost 2 years of it living in my house all naked like this, I think it is time to make a decision. And that is where you people come in.
What color do you think I should paint it?
Here are the options:
1) Peony Pink
2) Hydrangea Blue
3) Country White
4) Martha Stewart Logo Green
Any help would be appreciated!
Jerusalem- Well, for me I would choose white. That’s safe enough. For you, I’m thinking hydrangea blue. What is that wall color behind it? Gorgeous! Jen
you know me….. go green
I would say – paint it one coat of green. Let it dry completely, probably for a couple of weeks. Paint it again, white this time. Wait a couple of weeks again. Get a power washer and use it to chip off the layers in spots. The green will show in places. Paint a board for practicing. I found this out by accident when I power washed a step back cupboard (not antique) on our deck. >>Good luck.>>– Suzanne, the Farmer’s Wife
Go green!>>I am crazy in love with all things green right now though…
Hi Jerusalem,>First off, how lucky are you to have your father-in-law build you such a fabulous bench. I’m partial to white furniture, but I also think the Peony Pink, would look so pretty against the wall color you have.>I hope to see the final product once you’re done!>Hugs,>Rosa
Hi there->I love the bench! You are lucky to have such a handy father-in-law. I am in a very peony mindset these days so I would vote for the Peony Pink. However, it’s a tough choice–I do like all the colors!
That’s a great bench!>Sorry about your losing the chippy green paint, though. That’s how I would have left it, too.>>Hmmmm…what color? Well, in my hiuse, furniture gets shuffled around a lot, so I would paint it a color that would go in several rooms. Here, that would be white or the Martha green.>>Kimberly 🙂
I’d go with the green or blue…but heck, you can always repaint if it doesn’t work out!
I say anything but white . . .
Peony Pink – definitely! >>By the way, I love your new banner. Did I tell you that already?
I would go for either the blue or the green. Those are two of my favorite colors. 🙂
I vote Hydrangea Blue and let the boys paint the underside. It will make a memory.
I love color so, why not mix it up>alittle.. Paint all the colors… with a beautiful Amy Butler seat cover… I know anything you do will>be classy and beautiful.. 🙂
I like pink. You’re always “pink” to me. 🙂>>The bench is beautiful regardless… love it!
Hi Jerusalem. I originally thought green as well but I thin distress it for sure. So pretty! I hope you had a good weekend!
Of course white always looks fresh and cottagy, but a fresh green would look great with all the aqua in your house.
peony pink or blue. Hey…what is the color on your walls. Trying to find paint colors at the moment for my house.>Sarah>Vintage Lily
alright, i’m prolly too late, but why not go with a hydrangea blue with a light white glaze… age it some?
not familiar w/ Martha Stewart Green, but I think this would be pretty in blue, the deep darker hydrangea blue.
