Spring is finally here. Hurrah! Our yard is beginning to bloom. I find that I am so much more content with our little city plot when it is green and lush. It is so much easier to see the potential for a little cottage farm life in the city. As with most things, perspective is key. What I am looking at and how I am looking at it (whatever IT may be,) matter. My yard is always my ... View Post
make do {and make lovely} monday-introducing the art room
Deciding to stay here in this house (instead of renting it or trying to sell it again) has come with some perks. One of the biggest being the proximity to our life- friends, church, work, etc. It is nice to wake up at 9:45 and be able to roll into church by 10:30 ( ok, sometimes 10:35,) or for the boys to be able ride their bikes to a friends house, or for Sweet Man to be able to go home for ... on the ninth day of christmas….snow birds
For most of the snow days the girls, like us, stayed warm and snug in their house. Sweet Man did some weather proofing as soon as the snow started, and got a heat lamp safely secured. Aren't our Heritage gals looking great? All our girls are getting so fat. Even though we opened the door up for them during the day, it wasn't until Sunday that they begin to venture out of their coop and into ... View Post

So now Long Neck (as Miles has named her) or Hunny Bunny (as I have named her,) is happily roosting in our backyard and laying her eggs daily. I have to say, I sure do love ... View Post
saturday randomness
It's Saturday. Our first Saturday without Chloe girl. I do OK until I am editing pictures and I stumble across one of her recently. And then come the waterworks full force. Guess that is just how it will be for a while. Thank goodness for great friends who come and distract me for hours, who make me laugh, who understand. And thank goodness for the chickens. The silly, silly ... View Post
Rarely Finished but Rarely Dull or How to Turn Lemons into Lemonade in 60 Seconds or Less
I think this may be my new blog motto. Or my new life motto. Or both. Unfortunately for me (but great for her) Leahpeah has the best tag line ever; Flawed but Authentic. I am not sure anyone will top that one. Not ever. So for now I am going with "rarely finished but rarely dull..." because that is the most honest spin I can put on my little hodgepodge life. Equal parts exasperation and hope, ... View Post
