Here it is dearies (and fellas) – This weeks look at what I have been reading/browsing/inspired by :
On Faith
Beauty Printable from Barn Owl Primitives.
Some people are not a fan of the term brokeness but I am. I think we are all flawed and all broken in some way, and that this is okay. It’s not a blight on our character or a some sort of failure. It is a gift. I believe there is an AMAZING wealth of beauty to be found in our brokeness if we are willing to be honest and bring it into the light, the bright shiny light of Christ and his grace.
So I will be printing this free print as soon as possible – because I can always use the reminder that when all I see is my flaws, what Christ sees is beauty.
On Feast
Easy Baked Apples the kids will eat
All too often we end up with forgotten apples that have gone a bit soft or are a bit bruised. This is the perfect solution to save them from the compost piles. Even my boys – who have known to be picky – loved these and they were super easy. I even added in some chopped pecans in ours.
On Family
I still maintain that the world (or at least my world) should just hibernate in January. Why I EVER try to accomplish anything in January is beyond me. This month is meant for going slow, staying home, eating comfort foods underneath layers of quilts. Alicia Paulson, one of the very first bloggers I ever fell in loved with, gets this thought, though she is balancing her love of a slow January with the reality of a toddler who is going at a speed that is anything but SLOW. Reading her post I am thrown into both nostalgia for when my boys where little and extremee gratefulness that they are now big. Truly. Even though the time I have with them is dwindling, it is still my favorite.
On Fete
“Hospitality is when someone leaves your house feeling better about themselves instead of better about you.” – Shauna Niequist speaking at the #C21PHX conference.
YES YES YES is all I have to say about that.
(Her new book Savor comes out soon!)
On Fluff
Knock on wood we are ordering kitchen cabinets on Sunday. The plan is white shaker cabinets and butcher block countertops and lots of open shelving. Sweet Man is currently in-love with this pipe style of brackets that we saw on our current addiction (Fixer Upper of course.) I am not 100% sure if that is the best fit for us, but I am also not convinced that they aren’t… But I am holding off my final decision to the other cabinets are in. Just to be safe….
On Farmstead
I have just discovered what I think is really a UK thing – floating duck houses. But I think our little Golden Pond needs one. Don’t you? I mean how cute is that? And this post gives me hope that maybe we can create something like this using a dog-house style structure. I mean seriously.
Just Because
Connecting the Dots from my friend Kyran. I love this because it is so true. Just this year I feel like I know so much more about myself than ever before. The dots are becoming obvious and it is such a gift.
So that is what I have been trolling on the interwebs this week – what about you? Anything you think I need to check out?
Happy Weekend Friends!
