I started taking down Christmas today. What a pain. But oh how lovely everything looks, so fresh and clean without it all. Isn’t that how it is? Like the changing seasons. I love it all out and decorated and I love all cleaned up and put away. Right now only one room is cleaned, purged and finished and ready to show and yet tomorrow the listing goes up and I go back to work.
I pray that either no one wants to see the house till it is really ready or that whomever sees it in it’s less-than perfect state wants to buy it lock-stock-and-mess and I don’t have to fool with it any further.
But let’s talk about something other than the house shall we?
Officially Christmas isn’t over till Friday, on Epiphany, so I figured I have a few days to show off the last of the holiday pics. This year I didn’t make as many gifts as I have in the past. My running joke was that I made a book but they can’t open it till next Christmas. The few gifts I did make seemed to all center around cooking and eating, like this “Breakfast in a basket” gift for my Maw. The basket included fresh eggs from our chickens, a jar of homemade biscuit mix along with some homemade jelly.
The other gift was an oven mitt filled with kitchen accessories for some of my favorite chefs. The gift included hand-painted bamboo tongs, slotted spoons and spatulas, along with chopsticks and a “Love People” magnet from Penzys (isn’t it so cute? I have wanted one forever and was so excited to finally find them at the Penzy’s in Memphis!)
To paint the serving spoons I used the new multi-surface paints from Martha Stewart and I am interested to see if they hold up to wear, washing and handling as they advertise. Has anyone else used these paints yet? What do you think?
OK that is all for tonight. I need to get to bed at a decent hour like a responsible adult. Cheez and wiz.
See you again soon,
Love the farm gifts! We always give eggs, spinach and goat cheese to the neighbors with a recipe for making all that into a yummy breakfast. and I am thinking that the house looks empty with the Christmas decor. Although I was hating it when it was up and then I thought everything looked cluttered. There are so many people that live in my head…..

I love the gifts and I really enjoyed reading your blog. Also, I love your name. It's very cool. I've never known anyone named Jerusalem before.

I'd take a handmade gift from you any day, girlfriend. And be thrilled like your own recipients no doubt are.
I love both of those gifts so much I'm pinning them! Good luck on the house!
