Memories of the spring of 2007.
14 years ago this past March, a tornado destroyed my parents house.
14 years ago this month Sweet Man and I tied the knot.
Strange bookends. Typical bookends.
The story of life.
She didn’t grab the family photo’s, or the box full of important papers, or her grandmothers hand-painted china. No, what she grabbed was the fabric for my bridesmaid dresses. Fabric that we had searched all year for, fabric we had pieced together from various stores, buying the last bits we found every time we found it.
This is what she grabbed to protect in the middle of a tornado that would tear her house to shreds all around her.
That is the type of mother I have. The kind that grabs $5.99 a yard fabric, moments before the roof is blown off her house, because it was for my wedding – because it was important me and I am important to her.
My mother is amazing.
And I notice. I probably don’t tell her I notice enough.
But I do. And I remember. I remember the fabric, and I remember the prom dress and the birthday cake with the marshmallow elephants and how every birthday was a big deal and how awful I was in my late teens and early twenties. And how now that I am grown she never interferes unless I ask her too.
My mother is amazing.

My whole body is covered in goosebumps after reading that. x
Sweet sentiments…sweeter memories! Enjoy your mother's day
Your Mom is pretty great; a very resourceful woman. I met her at church in Germany when she visited Adama and Jemimah about 3 years ago. Jememiah has always telling great stories and her and her awesome family.
