my favorite parts of Christmas all happen in stillness.
I do adore all the busyness that the holidays bring – the making, baking, visiting, gifting and so forth. But truly, my most favorite moments are those found in the still, quiet moments.
Moments when the only light is coming from some twinkling fairy lights.
When I am tired from all the fun and work, and yet I sit in the glow of the light and wonder at it all.
and the words from O Holy Night come to me. softly, sweetly, meaning so much more to me than I could have ever known as a child singing them in church…
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth…
he appeared and the Soul felt its worth.
the thrill of hope , a weary world rejoices
for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
sweet hymns of joy, in grateful chorus raise we.

I love your vintage goodies and your post is so sweet. I too have taken it easy this year and want to enjoy “Christmas” not the hype and the presents. Just friends and family and important part of it the thankfulness and the remembering!

Thank you for this, and i agree…some of my favorite holiday moments are the quiet ones. Late night, lights still lit on the trees, music low, house warm and quiet, kids asleep…silent night, and all is well.
