Last night I got to do something I never do – see a movie on opening weekend.
Also I got to go see it with my mother and both my sisters. I don’t think we have all seen a movie together since we were kids.My sis Jemimah loves the play The Women. I think the first time she saw it was on PBS, and since then she has seen the 1939 movie version, which my mom has seen also.
I have not seen that version, or the play, but I have wanted too and I just keep forgetting to put it on the Netflix list.

Anyway, Jemimah is home for a few weeks from Germany, and it just worked out that we (we being Jemimah, Judea, my Mom and myself) could all go to the newest film version of this classic, together.
And happily we all really liked it. Which is a good sign because we rarely all four agree on anything. Except our love of chocolate and shoes and a good thrift store.
I was so glad to see my old pal Meg back on the screen doin‘ her thing.
And she had amazing hair as always. During this scene I leaned over to Jemimah and said “I think I need another perm. I have to have her hair!”

I adore Debra Messing and she was just too funny in her role as the token Earth Mother.
In fact lots of things about the movie may seem “token” but there was still lots to like, and frankly I don’t need every movie to be Atonement. Quite the contrary, I like a whip cream now and then. My real life is quite deep enough, thank you very much.
This movie hasn’t gotten stellar reviews but I loved it and will be owning it in the future for sure… If only to try and figure out how Meg gets her hair so perfect every time…

I am scared to see this remake, because I loved the original and I really hate Meg Ryan, though I must say it is nice that she has quit doing whatever that was she was doing to her lips that made her look like she was attacked by a swarm of angry bees!)But I guess I’ll be brave and see it, because, frankly I’m dying of curiousity to see how they “updated” it.
I’ve been thinking about going to see this, as it’s new in the UK. Sounds great, think I’ll have to go and see it now after such a great review!x
Yes, a little lightness is nice sometimes. My sister and I are taking my mom to see this movie today. I’m sure my mom has seen the original, she loves old movies…hopefully she loves this too.Hmmm, I’m making her a little card right now (it’s her birthday) and you just gave me an idea. The original movie graphic would make a cool card!

I agree…a little fluff is essential for good living! I love Meg Ryan and think you would look DARLING with her hair!! I am dying to see this movie…silly me, I didn’t even know it was a remake! Now I have to search out the old one, as well!!
Good, I’m glad you liked it. I’ve always loved the old one, and I was a little worried about the remake botching it. And you’re right, Meg’s hair has been perfect for the last twenty years. How does she do that?By the way, that screen in the shop… how much is that? I was there this weekend and couldnt find a price tag. The whole place looks great btw.

I really want to see this. I thought it looked great. Of course…I had no idea it was a remake. HA! You’d look great with that do. I always aspire for my curls to look like that, and it NEVER happens. Call me crazy, but I’m thinking Meg’s secret to her perfect locks of bouncey, wavey friz-free curls is a good ole on-call professional hairdresser!! HA! Love you – Tricia 🙂
