Well I have a temp. camera coming my way today to help me out while mine is in the shop. So I thought I would pull from the “meant to show you, never got around to it” files for this Monday morning….
Inspired by all the folks out there hanging fabric on their walls, framed by embroidery rings, I worked up these 3 lovelies for my local shoppe.
All I did was simply paint 3 embroidery rings different colors, then found embroidered tea towels or pillowcases that were hopelessly damaged in spots, and cut out the best damage free area I could to frame. Next I ran some ribbon through the top and voila! a new way to display your vintage embroidery…
I think a group of these would look precious hanging over a little girls bed, or in a window perhaps?
How do you display or alter your damaged vintage linens?
(PS – these are still for sale if anyone is interested…)
Georgia brought up a suitcase full of partially embroidered items my mom and grandmother worked on…. partially embroidered…. Hoping I can find enough finished places to display them somehow. Also, in Cooking with Paula Deen, March/April 2007, there’s a good article on how to display vintage, and worn, pieces.
This is clever!>>Hmmmm, I cut up my damaged embroidery and made a bunting with them way back when.
Your post today inspired me to post about a couple of my projects that I had done with some damaged tea towels. I love old linens and can’t bear to throw them out after someone went to all the work to make them!!!
Really pretty!!>Rosemary
I keep seeing embroidery hoops at my thrift store…now I’m going to buy some. I really, really love the way you displayed these a necklaces.

What a great idea! I have some lovely pieces that are damaged in spots and this is a good way to “highlight” the good parts.>>Thanks.>>– Suzanne, the Farmer’s Wife

They are beautiful. The first thing I thought was how wonderful they would look in a small child’s room. My favorite is the last one. Thanks for sharing.>Have a great week.>Judy
You must be in the creative flow-this is the second post about embroidery I’v read today. Isn’t it funny how these things crop up at the same time? I love your sweet designs.
