When we where making out our very loose itinerary for the trip there were only a few “for sures” on the list;
*Visit some Wineries
*Do Some Camping
*Hit as many Flea Markets and Antique Shops as Possible
*Visit Curious Sofa outside KC.
On Tuesday we made it to Kansas (our 3rd State in 4 days) and visited the lovely Curious Deb and her great shop. I actually got to meet Deb and she was very kind and friendly and even remembered me from all my pesky emails! Here are a few pics, starting with the part of the outside wall… Where she has paid immaculate attention to detail once again.
This is a sort of “over view” where you can see the tin ceiling and the mixture of fancy and rustic industrial light fixtures.
This was up front in a window. Her Halloween decorations are very Edward Gorey who Deb is very inspired by – in fact she took her store name from one of his books.

I took this picture because I love that this armoire was lined on the inside with pages from an old book or catalog. I will be stealing that idea for sure. Also these little top hats where all over the store. I wonder if they are a signature piece?
Another window display. The leaves where cut out of a book or newsprint and then hung on string or fishing line.
The little black mask (as seen on the lampshade)were on everything that stood still…
The Curious Sofa goods are a mix of new upholstered pieces, refurbished antique pieces, and new and vintage art, lamps and accessories. She also has stationary items, jewelry and other odds and ends. It felt very Anthropologie in it’s layout and make-up – but without the clothing – or the color – and of course even more original and one-of-a-kind!
I adored this display of maps and posters. Nathan and I LOVE old maps, but you can only frame so many of them, and I hate to just have them stored away, so this was a great idea for how to display them and have access to them. Now I just have to decide where to re-create this in our house…
Finally here I am, feeling very curious indeed….

Sounds like such a great trip! I love the use of the tin pails. They look like “sugaring pails” from Vermont which they use to collect syrup from maple trees. thanks,Liz
