On Farmsteading
When I need a break from thinking about laundry, kitchen remodel, and work, I start daydreaming about when can begin work on our farmstead- outside.
I started a Farmstead Pinterest board, and I love this post from A Country Life – it is full of just the sort of things I want to do!
On Fluff
Figuring out how I want to decorate this house has been a little bit of a challenge. After a lot of experimenting I have decided that as much as I love the neutral pallet of Joanna Gaines and the fluff of Rachel Ashwell, I just can’t leave my colorful past behind. For that reason I have been finding lots of inspiration from The Handmade Home.
I guess my look is Schoolhouse meets Farmhouse. Or something like that.

Jonathan writes so beautifully about the gift of the Episcopal church and sums up why I love it so (and how I can hold it and the gifts of my heritage in the same hand.)

For years I haven’t been able to eat Cream of _____ condensed soups, which has put a kink in my casserole cooking. I have also been long scared of learning how to make a roux. This week I conquered this fear and learned how to make my own Cream of ______ bases from scratch and it worked BRILLIANTLY.
I followed a recipe I found on Pinterest using bacon grease and 2% milk as my grease and dairy. It was really easy and simple and I feel as if I have been given the keys back to a favorite car. In the culinary sense of course.
You can find the recipe and instructions to make your own base here: Homemade alternative to “Cream of….” Condensed soup

Hoping to host a Candlemas gathering again this year, and having fun at looking at previous Candlemas post. Maybe in a year or two I can actually make candles from bee’s wax from my own bees! Wouldn’t that be fun?

Any and everything by Micha Boyett – I think she is my long-lost soulmate. I swear she writes what I am thinking nine times out of ten
So this is what I am reading and pinning and love this week… What about you? Any new blogs out there that I need read? What is inspiring you lately?
Happy Weekend Friends!
